I know I have sorta talked about this topic before but I wanted to talk about it again because it can be something that I easily forget as well. As much as we may long to be surrounded by people or having friends, are we surrounding ourselves with the wrong type of people?

I have mentioned before I don’t have a large circle of friends or any at all to be very honest. Sometimes wanting a friendship so badly can place you in a situation with the wrong people. I know the right people will come along but I am not rushing into friendships because I have learned the hard way that it’s not supposed to be that way. But back to what I was saying …

Have you ever done something and then instantly regretted it? Well there have been times I have been around people and regretted their company. Not that they were terrible people but their negative mindset wasn’t something that I wanted to be around. I don’t know about you but I wouldn’t want to be around someone who constantly has something negative to say or just thinks negatively in general. Their perspective in life or anything really always has a negative mindset to it. Isn’t that just off-setting?

I have encountered a handful of people like that and well they aren’t the most joyous people to be around. I want to surround myself with people that will lift me up and be there when I need them. Scripture clearly says it as well. Here is one bible verse that kind of goes along the lines of what I’m talking about. “Don’t let any evil talk come out of your mouths. Say only what will help to build others up and meet their needs. Then what you say will help those who listen” Ephesians 4:29 NIrV Okay one main point in that verse is “will help those who listen”. If you don’t listen then what’s the point? It clearly says to say things that will build each other up BUT it will only help those who listen. If you disregard the positive words from those around you it does you no better then the Negative Nancy over there. LISTEN. Sometimes it can be difficult to hear others out but God clearly designed us to build one another up and not just do it on our own.

If someone in your life is bringing you down or is causing you to not live your dream or aspirations because of their negative outlooks rethink the situation. I am not saying to shut them out and just move on. You can be used as a vessel to lift them up as well. Make a difference but also be wise with who you surround yourself with.

I love the idea of people lifting up others. In the world we live in there is also so much hate and evil every which way but you can make an impact, even if its just a small one, to be the one to change someones perspective. When I say that I always think of this quote I heard a long time a go. “Be the kind of girl that when you get up in the morning people say, “Oh no she’s up!” ” Make a difference and be be different. With the right mindset and obviously first and foremost God in your heart people will wonder what is different about you. And that my friends simply is reflecting the love of Christ to others. That will have some heads turning and making others want what you have in their lives as well. Your daily walk and the people you surround yourself with can make all the difference not only to lead you closer to God but even those who never thought in their right minds that was a possibility for them. I think thats a pretty positive outlook don’t you think ?
