Proverbs 11:17 NLT ” Your Kindness will reward you, but your cruelty will destroy you.”

Psalms 145: 17 NLT ” The Lord is righteous in everything he does; he is filled with kindness”

Matthew 5:16 NLT ” In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.”

So being kind sounds easy right? Well let’s think about it. Maybe someone said something to you rather rude today. Another car took the parking space you were clearly waiting for. The self check out lady has a bit of an attitude towards you, or the machine it self is getting on your nerves. Or the coffee you were so longing for this morning was made incorrectly and doesn’t tase like your were hoping for. no it is not. Like I mentioned in my previous post about joy it can be rather difficult as well. Or people are just being particularly diffucult. Along with not letting people steal your joy comes kindness. If I were to react to a given situation in a rude manner or with a bad temper that would make me just as bad as the person who is being particularly difficult. I always say no one makes you do anything, I guess that goes with how we react too. You know how people say ” Well he MADE me do it”. Mmmm no, that’s not necessarily how that works. No one makes you do or react in any way, that is your choice and your own personal response. No one held you against your will to follow through with certain action or say a certain thing, it was your response to do so, intentional or not. The phrase “Kill them with kindness” has been around forever but have we ever really acted upon it. The bible clearly states in scripture that our God is filled with kindness, so why shouldn’t we do the same. Like I said being kind can be difficult, especially if you confront yourself with let’s just put like this, with a difficult person ( or people), it can be more of a challenge if presented in a situation like such. Going back to scripture it says “Your kindness will reward you”, Psalms 145:17. Your acts of kindness don’t go unnoticed. God sees everything but he acknowledges your good deeds. In Matthew 5:16 it reads ” In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.” Imagine your one act of kindness can demonstrate the love of Christ to other people. Simply opening the door, paying it forward, or letting that driver take the spot you were waiting for without getting frustrated. can show those around you the love of God that is in your heart. Not everyone knows God in this world but you can be a simple reflection of his love. Isn’t that amazing? So next time you confront yourself with a difficult person, think twice before you act. You don’t have to be in a difficult situation to be kind, it can be a simple way of life. Maybe just pay for the coffee of the person behind you, your act of kindness doesn’t go unseen and you are definitely leaving a small imprint of Gods almighty love. Spread kindness like sprinkles, once you pour them they will go pretty much everywhere.
