2 Kings 5
There are many different woman in the bible. Some of them we know there names but others the bible simply doesn't not state them for us. This young servant girl we have no name for but we can truly learn a lot from.
There was a young Jewish girl who had been given to Naaman's wife as a maid. Naaman was the commander of the army of Aram but he suffered from leprasy. This young servant girl had courage to speak up. She was young and a servant to Naaman and his family, she really didn't have a place to speak up but she did. Her status really didn't allow for her to go around and give her master advice. With all those factors taken into consideration that did't stop her, she spoke up and offered a solution to Naaman's leprosy. "... One day the girl said to her mistress, "I wish my master would go toes the prophet in Samaria. He would heal him of his leprosy."2 Kings 5:3 Throughout the whole chapter that is the only line where this young servant girl spoke. That is the only sentence she said! She spoke up but she spoke with confidence and assurance that God would heal her master. Her courage and strong faith made all the difference as the chapter continues. Naaman took her advice, visited the prophet and was heald.
This young servant girls boldness to speak up and her trust in God lead to Naaman being healed. Naaman was healed, yes, but the best part of it all was that Naaman also believed in God! ".. Now I know there is no God in all the world except in Israel." 2 Kings 5:15 The young servant spoke one sentence but it made one HUGE impact. Her master was healed and ultimate he believed in Jesus Christ. She could have kept quiet and simply just listen to the struggles that her masters were facing. I mean she was a servant, a maid and first and foremost she was young. Sometimes being young you can feel inferior to those who are older than you and in her case she pretty much belonged to them I mean she was given to them as gift!. The young servant girl didn't let anything stop her from simply speaking up. If you believe it then why not speak up for what you believe in. She trusted and believed in her God and the wonders that Jesus could perform. Her faith was so big she said it herself "He would heal him". And so he did.
The young servant girls status did not stop her from being used for the Kingdom of God. I am qualified, everyone is qualified to be used by God. He gives us the authority to speak up and have all the courage we need.
I think there is a lot to learn from this young servant girl. We dont know her name nor her exact age but she made one heck of a difference. She was bold so what's stopping us from being bold as well?
